Family Home Evening Lesson
Feeling the Holy Ghost
Opening Song: "The Holy Ghost" Children's Song Book # 105
Opening Prayer: Child
Scripture: D&C 8:2-3
Lesson: Mommy
In the Doctrine and Covenants chapter 8 (show scriptures to child) Oliver Cowdery is told he has a gift given to him (have a wrapped box for visual for child) This is the Gift of the Holy Ghost. This gift will help him translate the Gold Plates so we can read The Book of Mormon that we have today. The Lord tells him
"I will tell you in your mind and in your heart by the Holy Ghost, which shall come upon you and which shall dwell in your heart"
Heavenly Father and Jesus speak to us through the Holy Ghost. We know when we are doing the right things because if feels right in our mind and we feel a warm feeling in our hearts. We can use the Gift of the Holy Ghost to tell us what we should do when we are not sure.
