Following on from the last lesson: After Jesus had dined with the disciples Jesus asked Simon Peter if he loved him. He said Yes Jesus I lovest thou. Jesus said. "Feed my lambs" (John 21:15)
As followers of Jesus we must help eachother in the gospel. Be kind and help new members, answer questions in primary. Share the gospel. Be kind to others.
How do you care for a real lamb?
Protect from wolves and danger
A safe place to sleep
Food
Water
Who are the Saviour's Lambs? Those who are new or not strong in the gospel.

Easter
Family Home Evening Lesson
Preparing for Easter
Opening Prayer: Dad
Opening Song: "Did Jesus Really Live Again?" Children's Songbook #64
Lesson:
Have a paper easter egg hunt. I purchased a similar thing from a store, but you could easily make yourself. It had paper eggs, basket to put eggs in and arrow signs to point the directions to go.
On the back of the eggs I wrote about something that happened in the lead up to Easter Sunday. You can have the children collect the eggs in order, or you can put them in order once they have all been found around the house.
Just draw an easy picture or write a few words on the back of each egg about the following things:
Palm Sunday
Washing of Disciples Feet
The First Sacrament
Garden of Gethsemene
Cruxifiction
Easter Sunday- He is Risen
Briefly talk about what happened the week leading up to Easter. Not too much, as I plan to use the other two mondays to go over some of the things in closer detail.
Activity:
Make this paper fan palm branch
Road to Easter Cut and Paste Work sheet

Remember Jesus

Opening Song: "I feel my Saviours Love Children's Songbook #74
Opening Prayer: Child
Lesson: Daddy
Show a picture of Jesus. Ask how we remember him.
Read yourself or have an older child read the Sacrament Prayers from the scriptures (D&C 20:77, 79 - Our 8 year old did for us) Ask the children to guess what it is you are reading. (some of kids did, some knew it was familiar, but not sure)
Activity:
Now say you are going to play a memory game. Children have one minute to look at 10 items on a tray. Cover it up and have children write or draw or dictate to you what they remember on the tray. We made sure one of the items was a small picture of Jesus.
Our older girls wanted a go at being the person in charge of the tray, so we played 3 different versions of the game (allowing them to choose the items, but the ONLY Item that had to stay the same each time was the picture of Jesus)
We said that it is important to remember Jesus in our lives, even when it can be difficult. We must make room for and love Jesus.

John, Jesus and Baptism

John, Jesus and Baptism
Opening Song: “Baptism” ( Children’s Song Book #100 )
Opening Prayer: Daddy
Lesson: Mommy
Scripture: This lesson based on Matthew 3. Have Scriptures for visual.
Lesson.
John the Baptist taught in the wilderness. He told the people to repent. He wore clothes made of camel hair and ate locusts and honey. (Allow children to put on a wool coat/jacket or something similar) Show picture of John Gospel Art Picture Kit #207 Jesus came to John to be baptised. John was surprised. He thought Jesus should baptise him. He knew Jesus was perfect and didn’t think he would need to be baptised. Jesus said it was a commandment from God and he wanted to obey. John baptised Jesus in the Jordan River. The Holy Spirit descended as a dove and God spoke from Heaven saying “This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased” Show picture of the baptism Gospel Art Picture Kit picture 208

Do a dove craft. Click here for different dove craft ideas from paper or here for a felt peace dove.

Treat:
Eat honeycomb. Honeycomb can usually be bought at health food stores or farmers markets, if you can’t get this you could just eat honey, or for sweet treat honeycomb candy, violet crumbles or crunchies or recipe below.
Honey Joys
90g (about 3 Tbs) butter or margarine
1/3 cup sugar
1 tablespoon honey
4 cups Kellogg's® Corn Flakes
Preheat oven to 150°C (300ºF).
Line 24 hole patty pan (mini muffin pan) with paper cases.
Melt butter, sugar and honey together in a saucepan until frothy.
Add Kellogg's® Corn Flakes and mix well.
Working quickly spoon into paper patty cases.
Bake in a slow oven 150°C (300ºF) for 10 minutes.
Cool.
*If you like the honey coating double the mixture of honey and sugar - I do.

My Brother Jesus Christ

Learning about Jesus:
Show this Picture of Jesus or use your favorite Jesus picture.
Ask: “Who is this?”
“What do you know about Jesus?”
“Is Jesus related to us?”
Jesus is our Elder Brother. Jesus lives with our Father in Heaven. He listens to our prayers and helps us when we need him. He came to earth and died for us so that we can live with our Father in Heaven again. Jesus loves us very much and wants us to obey. But, if we make mistakes he has made it possible for us to repent and for our sins to be washed away.
Sing: “’Give’ Said the Little Stream” (Children’s Song Book # 236)
Activity:
Color the picture of Jesus and talk about him and what he brings to your family.
Closing Song: “I Feel My Savior’s Love” (Children’s Song Book # 74)

Treat: Banana Chocolate Chip Muffins
Given By: King Arthur Flour
1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter
1 cup Baker's Special or granulated sugar
1 large egg
1 teaspoon Island Spice Flavor (optional)
2 medium ripe bananas, mashed (about 3/4 cup)
1/3 cup milk
1 cup King Arthur 100% White Whole Wheat Flour
1 cup King Arthur Unbleached All-Purpose Flour
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup chocolate chips
1 cup toasted walnuts, chopped
1 cup cinnamon Flav-R-Bites(tm) (optional)
Preheat your oven to 350°F.
In a medium-sized mixing bowl, cream together the butter and sugar till they're smooth. Beat in the egg, flavoring, banana and milk.
In a separate bowl, whisk together the dry ingredients, then gently stir them into the butter mixture. Spoon the batter into 18 regular-sized lightly greased muffin cups.
Bake the muffins for 20 minutes, or until a cake tester inserted into the center of one comes out clean. Remove them from the oven, and after 10 minutes turn them out of the pan to cool.
Yield: 18 muffins.
